The Indomitable spirit of america.
1804 – The Lewis & Clark Expedition

These Indomitable Spirits undertake the greatest journey of exploration in American history.  Traveling ~8,000 miles in 28 months up mighty rivers, over mountain ranges, through wilderness, hostile weather, and indigenous tribes. We made this bourbon from corn, barley, rye, and wheat, aged over 5 years, and bottled in bond to honor them for America’s 250th Birthday.

Local History

The Corps of Discovery is not just American History, it's local history for us.  The Expedition left from St. Louis and returned here over two years later.  On the bank of the Mississippi River, you will find "The Captain's Return", an amazingly impressive statue commemorating the triumphant return of Lewis & Clark and it includes their faithful dog Seaman as well.  It sits below The Gateway Arch, a global symbol honoring the Indomitable Spirit of exploration into the unknown.

One of our favorite books on the Lewis & Clark Expedition is Undaunted Courage by Stephen E. Ambrose.  This fantastic book reads like a novel and brings the characters to life.  It's the definitive story of the Expedition and the perfect accompaniment to a glass of 1804 Missouri Bourbon!

Throughout Missouri along the Missouri River, you will find memorials and honoring the great expedition.  Not just of the commanders Lewis & Clark, but of other key members of the expedition as well.  One fascinating member who has a great memorial near New Haven, MO, is John Colter.  A key scout and hunter for the expedition, he is perhaps most famous for escaping death years later as he was being hunted for sport, but he escaped in a superhuman ordeal that today is known simply as "Colter's Run."  It's absolutely incredible.  We suggest you pourself a glass of 1804 Bourbon and read all about it here!

1804 – The Lewis and Clark Expedition

The Lewis and Clark Expedition, officially known as the Corps of Discovery, was a U.S. government-sponsored expedition from 1804 to 1806 led by Meriwether Lewis and William Clark to explore the newly acquired Louisiana Territory and find a water route to the Pacific Ocean. The expedition's goals included establishing U.S. claims, promoting trade, and gathering geographical and scientific knowledge, ultimately mapping the territory and documenting new plants and animals. Key figures like Sacagawea, a Shoshone interpreter, provided invaluable assistance, though the journey was challenging and involved interactions with numerous Indigenous peoples.
