The indomitable merging of Past & Present
This spirit is truly a passion project. Our owner/distiller David Weglarz has a particular love for the emerging category of American Single Malt Whiskey and enjoys smoked whiskeys in general. To him, smoke and whiskey are just "affinity flavors."
This inaugural version of Big Smoke is 100% malt barley. The majority of which was smoked with Cherrywood to add rich fruity and smokey flavors. It is a 53gal single barrel aged over five years old and bottled at 110 proof. We have released similar versions of this recipe labeled as "The Truth" and "Farewell 2020" over the years. So if you loved those, here is a bigger, better, richer version!
This iteration of "Big Smoke" will be the first in an evolving line of smoked American Single Malt Whiskeys that we will release. We expect each batch to be slightly/wildly different, but remarkable and fantastic in it's own way.
(The name originates as a nod to David's collegiate nickname and to allude to the nose and palate of the whiskey.)
Nose of baking dough, charred stone fruit. Palate is large juicy wave of cherry pie crust with warm smoke interwoven. Bold and cohesive, big sweet juicy smoked whiskey.
