This spirit is truly a passion project.  Our owner/distiller David Weglarz has a particular love for the emerging category of American Single Malt Whiskey and enjoys smoked whiskeys in general.  To him, smoke and whiskey are just "affinity flavors."

This is an American Single Malt Whiskey, released on the very day that it becomes officially recognized as it's own unique category! 

This version of Big Smoke is obviously 100% malt barley.  However, it has blended together from different single barrels to create a truly wonderful and complex American Single Malt.  47.5 % Mesquite smoked malt barley, 47.5% Applewood smoked malt barley and 5% Cherrywood smoked malt barley.  All three barrels were aged over five years old before blending together and bottling at 110 proof.  

This iteration of "Big Smoke" will is the second in an evolving line of smoked American Single Malt Whiskeys that we will release.  We expect each batch to be slightly/wildly different, but remarkable and fantastic in it's own way.

(The name originates as a nod to David's collegiate nickname and to allude to the nose and palate of the whiskey.) 

Tasting Notes: 

Nose of cherry pop tart with bold, yet restrained smoke.  Palate offers sweetness from mesquite and applewood smoke with a drying oak character.  Bold and cohesive, balanced smoked whiskey.
